Position: Social Worker Childrens
Location: Guildhall Walk, Portsmouth, PO1 2AL
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Duration: 3+ Months
Working Hours: 37 Hours Per Week
Pay Rate: £ 29.64 Per Hour

Job Responsibilities:
Manage a caseload of children, young people, and families within Children’s Services.
Carry out assessments, care planning, and reviews in line with statutory requirements.
Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and vulnerable young people.
Work collaboratively with families, schools, healthcare professionals, and partner agencies.
Prepare clear and accurate case records, reports, and court documentation where required.
Participate in child protection investigations, strategy meetings, and multi-agency meetings.
Ensure all interventions are outcome-focused and child-centred.
Maintain compliance with Social Work England standards, council policies, and safeguarding procedures.
Attend team meetings, supervision sessions, and relevant training activities.
Support children and families to achieve positive and sustainable outcomes.
Person Specification
Qualified Social Worker with a recognised Social Work qualification.
Registered with Social Work England.
Minimum 3 years post-qualifying experience within Children’s Social Services.
Experience managing complex child and family caseloads.
Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, child protection, and statutory guidance.
Ability to complete assessments, reports, and case recordings to a high standard.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively within a multi-agency environment.
Enhanced DBS Disclosure.
Eligibility to work in the UK.
Ability to attend in-person interviews and work onsite as required.
Previous experience working within a local authority setting.
Experience with court work and care proceedings.
Knowledge of Portsmouth City Council procedures and systems.
Experience working with children in need, child protection, and looked-after children teams.
Additional safeguarding or specialist children’s services training.
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
