Junior Animal Technician

Agenda has a fantastic opportunity for a Junior Animal Technician to work in our facility based in Loughborough.
You will need to provide exceptional standards of animal welfare when carrying out a range of duties including basic animal husbandry, observations, feeding, watering, and cleaning. In addition to this, you may be involved in breeding and weaning animals, working either within an animal environment or laboratory environment.
Basic Requirements:
- GCSE’s in Maths and English or equivalent qualifications
- Strong worth ethic and good attention to detail
- Interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team supporting colleagues across the site
- Organised and self motivated
- Good standard of English to be able to read and understand work instructions
- Willing to complete mandatory training
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Daily feeding, watering and observation of the animals
- Provision of enrichment
- Cleaning out and maintaining animal cages, pens, rooms
- Correct disposal of waste material
- Exercising of large animals
- Follow strict biosecurity policy and disease prevention processes
- Collecting and recording data
- Handling animals
- Sexing and weighing animals
- Performing physical examination and health checks
- Reporting any animal welfare concerns
- Biological tissue collection
- Non-licenced breeding of animals
- Set up/cleaning/organisation of isolator if working within the department
