Agenda are recruiting for a Senior Animal Technician to provide exceptional standards of animal welfare when carrying out a range of duties such as animal husbandry, observations, technical procedures, and various laboratory tasks.

You will support, mentor and train others, hold a Home Office Personal Licence enabling you to perform regulated procedures or hold higher level responsibilities.

Basic Requirements:

  • Holder of a Home Office personal license or have successfully completed internal assessor training
  • IAT Level 3 diploma in Laboratory Animal Science and Technology or degree level qualification in Biological Science/Animal Science
  • Have a proactive approach to work, taking ownership of your own learning and development
  • Ability to coach and mentor others
  • Customer focused, listen to and respond to customer requirements
  • Documented competence to work unsupervised with 2 or 3 species

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Approved trainer/assessor in routine husbandry procedures
  • Perform the role of NACWO or other names person
  • Collect NSP samples at customer sites
  • Competency of working in 2 or more operational areas and able to perform welfare and husbandry tasks unsupervised
  • Be responsible for breeding and maintaining genetically altered animals
  • Tissue biopsy for genotyping
  • Administration of hormones to aid breeding
  • Customer interaction to ensure the company is able to meet and exceed expectations
  • Performing blood sampling techniques
  • Assisting veterinary team with surgery
