Salary: £39,000-£42,000 per annum

We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Quality Manager for a permanent position working for a large engineering company based in Ilkeston, Derbyshire.

Responsible for the inspection of products and reporting of defects/non-conformities. Also liaising with supervisors and also suppliers and Clients and investigating available data to determine opportunities for continuous improvement to systems and processes and reporting on statistical data gathered.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

· Lead the overall quality performance process and drive quality process outcomes.

· Develop, monitor and refine quality performance process; partner with key stakeholders to track and trend Key Performance Indicators.

· Study existing operations and processes to identify opportunities to drive out waste and improve profitability.

· Drive containment, root cause determination, short-term and long-term corrective action and preventive action ongoing basis.

· Assist in developing, implementing, and coaching operations personnel on root cause identification and appropriate closed-loop corrective and preventive action and in the use of quality improvement tools such as PDCA, Six Sigma, Problem Solving, Quality Tools, etc.

· Deliver relevant training and coaching, to ensure employees are appropriately educated throughout the business.

· Report overall quality performance to the Head of Quality and key stakeholders.

· Communicate critical issues in a timely manner.

Supervisory Accountabilities:

· Supervise team members, providing feedback where necessary, conducting performance reviews and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.

· Ensure that all team members and new starters fully understanding of the duties they are expected to perform, and that they fully understand their responsibilities to work safely.

· Manage staffing rosters to ensure an optimum staffing complement to meet workload demands, including the pre-authorisation of overtime working where applicable.

· Manage attendance and timekeeping and take initial action in cases of poor timekeeping and unauthorised absence.

· Manage sickness absence, including taking sickness reporting calls and dealing with returns from short-term sickness absence, and support the management of long-term sickness absence cases.

· Ensure that all team members are aware of the expected standards of behaviour, and that these standards are adhered to, maintain discipline and deal with minor infringements of the Employee Rules.

Knowledge & Experience:

· Experience of RCA

· Experience in implementing and maintaining Quality systems and ensuring compliance to standards and processes.

· Preferred experience in concrete/pre-cast sector, construction materials or construction sector generally.

· Experience of managing people with the confidence to tackle a variety of performance and other related issues, whilst ensuring adherence to HR compliance, processes & policies.

Qualifications & Training:

· Appropriate quality-related qualification e.g.. CQI

· Degree or other equivalent higher education qualification preferred but not essential.

· MS Office and strong computer skills

· IOSH Certificate in Managing Safely

· VFL Training

· First Aid Training (Emergency Responder)

· Train the Trainer programme
