Role Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with a specific student who requires additional support to access the curriculum and participate fully in school life. This full-time role will commence in September and offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on a child's educational journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to a student with special educational needs (SEN) on a one-to-one basis.
  • Assist the student with their learning activities, ensuring they can access the curriculum effectively.
  • Implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and support strategies as directed by the SENCo and class teacher.
  • Monitor and record the student's progress, reporting regularly to the SENCo and class teacher.
  • Support the student's social and emotional development, fostering independence and confidence.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and other staff to ensure a cohesive approach to the student's education.
  • Attend relevant training and professional development sessions.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEN, preferably in a primary school setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A patient, empathetic, and caring approach to working with children.
  • Understanding of child development and learning strategies for students with SEN.
  • Commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of all students.
  • Hold an enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to undertake a new one.
