  • Seasonal Annualised Hours : Work hours adjust seasonally; 07:30 am - 15:00 pm during Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) and 07:30 am -17:00 pm during British Summer Time (BST).
About the Role :
Chappell Enterprises UK is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Groundsperson to join our client's Grounds and Gardens team. This role is essential for maintaining and developing all sports playing surfaces, structures, and associated areas to ensure safe, consistent, well-presented, and high-quality playing surfaces for students and visitors. Additionally, the role may involve the general maintenance and development of landscaped and garden areas.


Key Responsibilities :
  • Preparation and maintenance of grass and artificial surfaces to the highest standards, including mowing, marking out, aeration, and renovation practices.
  • Operation of tractors with various implements attached for grass maintenance and renovation.
  • Basic knowledge of fine turf, horticultural pests, diseases, and treatments, tree and shrub maintenance, including the use of hedge cutters and other hand-held machines.
  • Responsibility for salting/gritting paths, steps, slopes, and car parks in icy/snowy weather and snow clearance in key areas.
  • General maintenance and development of landscaped and garden areas, ensuring the security of departmental vehicles, tools, machinery, buildings, and equipment.
Requirements :
  • Essential :
  • Full clean driving licence and be able to drive a small van.
  • Demonstrated ability in safe systems of work with machinery, excellent organisational and time management skills, and excellent customer service skills.
  • Personal Attributes: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work well as part of a team and unsupervised, enjoyment of outdoor work, confidence, self-motivation, proactive attitude, enthusiasm to learn, and a willingness to work flexibly.
  • You must be able to work weekends and some weekday overtime on a rota basis.
  • Desirable:
  • Good general level of education (to GCSE level or equivalent)
  • PA1 / PA2 / PA6
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Chainsaw licence
