Salary: £32,045 with potential to rise to £37,700 over 3 years

Working within the Business Management team, the role includes a diverse range of tasks focussing on financial analytics and insights, savings and sales performance management and providing wider business intelligence and data governance. These are all crucial to successful delivery of our business objectives. Reporting into the Category Performance Manager, you will work with a wide range of cross-directorate stakeholders to drive the organisation’s data strategy, develop innovative solutions to complex problems, and provide industry leading financial intelligence and insights.

 

As part of a newly expanded team, the role will require:

What does a Procurement Analyst do at NHS Supply Chain?

 

  • Assemble and interpret financial and performance metrics to make better business decisions, drawing rich insights from financial and other quantitative data.
  • Maintain data integrity to ensure reliability and accuracy.
  • Integrate data sets across various systems to facilitate strategic decision making.
  • Use a range of tools, techniques and approaches to highlight trends and patterns, supporting delivery of our Category strategy.
  • Provide technical support when reviewing and reporting on financial data, creating relevant and effective reports and data insights.


Responsibilities

 

  • Work with financial stakeholders to ensure our reporting is in line with financial strategy and reporting cycles.
  • Guide the Business Management and wider Rehabilitation and Community teams on financial queries and requests.
  • Set the data standard for all product and process data across the Category team.
  • Ensure supplier data is consistent and standardised.
  • Govern commercial and sourcing data to develop the spend cube through spend analytics, data cleansing and assurance, forecasting and product hierarchy.
  • Aggregate insights across the commercial function such as market indices, purchasing trends, and clinical insights, including wider NHS Supply Chain data.
  • Interact with the central Data team within Finance to ensure a ‘single version of truth’ from data sets.
  • Coordinate commercial reporting requirements and maintain source data integrity through regular reviews and cleanses.

 

 

What skills, qualifications and qualities do I need to be successful?

 

  • Has experience or a working knowledge of financial processes and cycles and can apply them when completing analysis tasks.
  • Uses comprehensive knowledge and skills to work independently on costing, budgeting and finance tasks while providing guidance and training to others.
  • Works without supervision and provides technical guidance when required on developing financial and economic models for planning and monitoring purposes.
  • Works with full competence to analyse potential solutions and create recommendations based on the expected benefits, costs, and overall value of the solution for key stakeholders.
  • Uses an understanding of numerical concepts to perform mathematical operations such as report analysis. Ideally proficient in MS Excel with data analytics experience and familiarity working with Power BI.
  • Provides technical guidance when required on analysing data from multiple sources to identify trends for use in reports to help guide decision making, draw appropriate conclusions and make suitable recommendations.
  • Knows the most effective and efficient processes to get things done, with a focus on continuous improvement.
